Pull Up Progressions

You don’t need a structured out door gym to be able to perform some of these exercises.  As my clients know far too well, if there is play ground equipment around it is not just for kids.  If you can fit under a park bench this becomes a great pull up tool. Climbing frames are useful as well.

Wide Grip Overhand Pull Up – Bent Knees

Arms wide, shoulders down, core braced!

Make sure that the bar is directly aligned to your chest

Inhale to prepare

Exhale to pull your entire body up to the bar.

Make sure that you keep the hips inline with the upper body.

Inhale to return to the start – this is 1 Rep

Wide Grip Over hand Pull Up – Legs Straight

This is essentially the same exercise however by straightening your legs it will add difficulty.
